Meet the Team!
Today on #LifeAtCircularMaterials, it’s Marco!
Competent in many areas, he’s our gentle giant! His height is directly proportional to his calm and tranquility, allowing him to make everyone feel at ease. A small detail: Marco doesn’t like having his photo taken, but when tackling situations, he can face them head-on with a clear vision and a reassuring smile.
At Circular Materials, we’re proud to have a diverse group of individuals with unique talents and backgrounds, all united by the same mission: to create a positive and lasting impact on our planet.
Click and follow us to discover how each of us, with our uniqueness, contributes to the success of our mission.
If you’re passionate about driving the transition to a more sustainable energy future and empowering companies to achieve their sustainability goals, we’d love to hear from you.
Send your application to hr@circularmaterials.it or check out our ‘Work with Us‘ page. We can’t wait to welcome you!
In the meantime, here’s Marco’s interview:
1) What are your responsibilities at Circular Materials?
I coordinate and define the R&D activities for recovering critical metals from spent batteries (black mass). This project involves me in all stages, from laboratory-scale research to scale-up and industrialization of the entire process, including interactions with customers and partners. Additionally, I am involved in data collection and analysis for the monitoring and implementation of CM processes.
2) What was your educational background?
I graduated from the University of Padua, completing bachelor’s and master’s courses in Materials Science. After graduation, I continued my education with a Ph.D. in Padua, where I deepened my knowledge of cathode materials involved in electrocatalysis processes. Before joining CM, I participated in a research project at the University of Padua on the synthesis and characterization of electrocatalysts for hydrogen production.
3) How have you developed your skills at CM?
The technical-scientific skills developed during my university period are essential for understanding and developing the processes followed at CM. Being involved in the scale-up and industrialization phases of processes optimized in the laboratory, as well as frequent exchanges with partners and clients, is allowing me to develop cross-disciplinary knowledge, which is just as fundamental as technical-scientific skills for the development of new technology.
4) How would you describe your relationship with the team?
We are a young and dynamic group that adopts a multidisciplinary approach. Teamwork, along with continuous discussions and exchanges, allows us to address the various tasks assigned to us in the best possible way.
5) What aspects of the Circular Materials project do you appreciate the most?
I believe that the recovery of metals, which would otherwise go to waste, can have a positive and tangible impact on the development of an increasingly sustainable economic model. Greater use of secondary raw materials can help reduce the impact related to the massive use of critical metals in today’s technologies, promoting the spread of circular production and consumption approaches.
