EIT RawMaterials Summit 2024: Collaborating for Change

Circular Materials Participates in the EIT RawMaterials Summit: A Vision for a Sustainable Future

We are thrilled to have taken part in our fourth EIT Raw Materials Summit in Brussels this week!

The Raw Materials Summit is a critical call to action for industry leaders, educators, and innovators to come together and share their visions for a more sustainable raw materials future. This annual gathering is much more than a conference; it’s a platform designed to raise awareness about the vital role critical raw materials play in the Global Economy, while also facilitating meaningful discussions to overcome the barriers that slow the creation of sustainable value chains.

As active participants, we engaged in discussions that addressed both the opportunities and challenges facing the raw materials sector. The Summit provided invaluable opportunities for investment and collaboration, all aimed at breaking down barriers to create a more sustainable, responsible, and efficient raw materials sector.

At Circular Materials, we understand the urgency for action. The transition to clean energy demands a fundamental shift in how we source, use, and recycle raw materials. Our team is deeply committed to sustainable practices, and we continue to lead by example with the launch of our Circular Materials Hub Zero in Italy—a state-of-the-art facility focused on recovering critical and strategic raw materials like Ni, Cu, Co, Mn, and Li from industrial wastewater and BlackMass. This hub underscores our commitment to delivering raw materials with a minimal carbon footprint and advancing resource valorization through innovative technologies.

At the Summit, our CEO and Co-founder, Marco Bersani, along with Riccardo Momoli, our Head of Strategic Partnerships, were present to discuss how Circular Materials’ cutting-edge hydrometallurgical processes can significantly impact resource recovery across the entire value chain—from mining and refining to recycling. We are driving innovation to ensure that Europe maintains a sustainable and secure supply of critical raw materials, which are essential for both electric mobility and the broader renewable energy transition.

It was a fantastic opportunity to connect with fellow participants and share insights on the future of Sustainability and Innovation in raw materials. The time to act is now—together, we can build a responsible raw materials sector that ensures energy security and drives Europe’s digital transformation.
